Sdg12: Responsible Consumption And Production

Aligning with broader sustainability goals, the university has instituted ethical and environmental policies related to waste management and resource conservation. In collaboration with the Hamma Municipality and the Technical Landfill Center in Baghai, the university has established effective waste management practices that include recycling and waste reduction efforts. These policies are not only instrumental in reducing the environmental impact but also serve as educational tools that involve students in sustainability practices. Daily and weekly measurements are conducted to monitor waste levels, revealing an average daily production of 57 kg of waste. Of this amount, approximately 30 kg is recycled, focusing particularly on plastic materials, while 27 kg is sent to the landfill. This proactive approach not only reduces waste but also fosters environmental consciousness within the university community.  In furthering these sustainability efforts, Abbas Laghrour University has taken concrete steps to reduce single-use items, collaborating with student scientific clubs and promoting environmentally friendly practices within various student activities, including sports. These collaborations with college clubs encourage students to take active roles in environmental conservation, building a sense of responsibility towards sustainable practices. The university has also established partnerships with private institutions to support student entrepreneurs, enabling them to develop and launch projects aligned with environmental and social sustainability goals.  The university’s efforts extend beyond campus life, contributing to the broader community in various ways.
