The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announces that the Islamic Republic of Mauritania has opened nominations for the 2026 Chinguetti Prize, to be held in Nouakchott, to honor outstanding researchers in the following fields:
- Islamic Studies
- Science and Technology
- Literature and Arts.
The deadline for submitting applications is March 31, 2026, and the results will be announced no later than October 31, 2026.
Prize amount for each category:

Five million old Mauritanian ouguiya

An honorary certificate and a medal
Eligibility criteria:

Open to Mauritanian and foreign researchers, higher education institutions, scientific research centers, and cultural associations.

Submitted works must demonstrate creative excellence and scholarly merit in their respective fields.
Conditions:

The work must not have been published or presented more than three years ago.

The candidate must not have previously received the award.
Application File Components:

A signed application from the candidate specifying the field in which they are applying.

A curriculum vitae of the candidate with recommendations, if any.

A description of the work, including the research methodology and the feasibility of the topic.

Submission of the work in eight copies.

A declaration from the candidate that the submitted work meets the eligibility requirements.
Application Submission Procedures:
Submit the application within the specified deadlines to the Permanent Secretariat of the Council or by mail with the postmark as proof.
