On November 3, 2026, Professor Abdelwahed Challa, Rector of Abbes Laghrour University Khenchela, participated in the International Forum for Universities of Applied Sciences, held at Shanghai Dianji University in China. The forum hosted the founding conference of the International Alliance of Universities of Applied Sciences (IAUAS). 🔹 The international event brought together 24 university rectors from 17 countries across Asia, Europe, the Americas, and Africa to announce the establishment of this alliance. On October 20, 2026, the Laboratory of Biotechnology, Water, Environment, and Health (Faculty of Natural and Life Sciences), in coordination with the Laboratory of Green Economy and Renewable Energies (Faculty of Economic, Commercial, and Management Sciences), organized the sixth edition of the “Scientific Awareness Day” focused on the early detection of breast cancer and the impact of dietary habits. The event was co-chaired by Dr. Amel Bouakaz and Dr. Hoda Bouzidi, with the participation of the Khenchela branch of the National Organization of Algerian Midwives. The event served as an opportunity to promote health literacy and raise awareness about the importance of early breast cancer detection. It highlighted the role of dietary habits in disease prevention and health maintenance, employing an approach that combines scientific education with health-related support. In this context, the program included medical screenings at the university campus clinic for female university staff—an initiative designed to encourage early detection and foster preventive health practices within the university community. Furthermore, as part of efforts to strengthen partnerships and engage with the socio-economic environment, the day concluded with the signing of four framework and cooperation agreements: A cooperation agreement between the Laboratory of Biotechnology, Water, Environment, and Health and the Laboratory of Green Economy and Renewable Energies. 🔹 On Tuesday, October 13, 2026, the talent acquisition caravan for the Baladna_Algeria project arrived at Abbes Laghrour University Khenchela. The visit is part of a broader tour aimed at discovering and attracting young student talent by collecting resumes and opening promising career paths in three key sectors: ▪️ Cattle farming and milk production. ▪️ Agricultural crop production. ▪️ Engineering and manufacturing within the dairy industry. 🔹 The Baladna_Algeria project is an integrated agro-industrial venture located in the Adrar province. Coinciding with the opening ceremony of the 2026–2027 academic year—presided over today, September 22, 2026, by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research at the University of Jijel—Abbes Laghrour University (Khenchela) organized its own academic year opening ceremony. The event was held under the supervision of the University Rector and attended by representatives of local authorities and the university community. The ceremony program included: A recitation of verses from the Holy Quran. The playing of the National Anthem. An address by the Vice-Rector for Development and Foresight, Professor Dr. Lalali Ghilani, representing the University Rector, whose presence at the University of Jijel coincided with the official opening ceremony presided over by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research. A remote address by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in which he outlined the new vision for Algerian universities. This vision focuses on advancing academic training and scientific research; fostering digital transformation, artificial intelligence, innovation, and entrepreneurship; and strengthening the university’s ties with its economic and social environment. He also discussed key trends and priorities for the new academic year, wishing the university community a successful and productive year ahead. Honoring faculty researchers who won the university-wide “Best Researcher” competition across several categories: most publications in internationally indexed journals; most publications in internationally indexed journals within the fields of Humanities and Social Sciences; and highest citation rate for scientific research.
