Events of the 2026–2027 Academic Year Opening Ceremony

Coinciding with the opening ceremony of the 2026–2027 academic year—presided over today, September 22, 2026, by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research at the University of Jijel—Abbes Laghrour University (Khenchela) organized its own academic year opening ceremony. The event was held under the supervision of the University Rector and attended by representatives of local authorities and the university community.
The ceremony program included:
A recitation of verses from the Holy Quran.
The playing of the National Anthem.
An address by the Vice-Rector for Development and Foresight, Professor Dr. Lalali Ghilani, representing the University Rector, whose presence at the University of Jijel coincided with the official opening ceremony presided over by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
A remote address by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in which he outlined the new vision for Algerian universities. This vision focuses on advancing academic training and scientific research; fostering digital transformation, artificial intelligence, innovation, and entrepreneurship; and strengthening the university’s ties with its economic and social environment. He also discussed key trends and priorities for the new academic year, wishing the university community a successful and productive year ahead.
Honoring faculty researchers who won the university-wide “Best Researcher” competition across several categories: most publications in internationally indexed journals; most publications in internationally indexed journals within the fields of Humanities and Social Sciences; and highest citation rate for scientific research.
Honoring professors promoted to the rank of “Professor of Higher Education” during the 53rd and 54th promotion sessions.
The ceremony also featured a lecture by Professor Dr. Adami Khamissi titled: “Are We Undergoing a Civilizational Shift?” The ceremony concluded with renewed wishes for the university community for a fruitful academic year—one filled with success, contribution, and excellence.
