Applications Open for the Algerian Visiting Fellowship 2026–2027


The Vice-Rectorate for External Relations, Cooperation, Promotion, Communication, and Scientific Events informs all research professors that applications are now open for the Algerian Visiting Fellowship, within the framework of the Emir Abdelkader Chair for Algerian Studies at the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies, for the 2026–2027 academic year.
This fellowship offers the selected researcher the opportunity to join a multidisciplinary academic community at the Centre for a full academic year, with the aim of carrying out an independent research project in one of the fields related to Islamic studies and the Muslim world, focusing on the following disciplines:
  • Anthropology
  • Economics
  • Geography
  • History
  • International Relations
  • Law
  • Literature
  • Philosophy
  • Political Science
  • Religious Studies
  • Sociology
  • Science and Society

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Applicants must be Algerian academics ordinarily resident in Algeria.
  • Applicants must have made a distinguished scholarly contribution in their field of specialization.
  • Researchers holding a PhD (postdoctoral level) are eligible to apply for this fellowship.
