The Department of Molecular and Cell Biology is one of the leading scientific departments in the field of biological sciences. It aims to develop students who are well-versed in the fundamentals and fields of modern biology, with a focus on practical and technological applications in scientific research and bioindustry.
The department includes four main specializations:
Biochemistry: The study of biochemical reactions within living organisms and their role in various cellular functions.
Microbiology: Focuses on the study of microorganisms, such as bacteria, viruses, and fungi, and their role in medical, industrial, and environmental fields.
Genetics: The study of genetic material, the mechanisms of hereditary trait transmission, and the molecular techniques used in genome analysis.
Animal Biology and Physiology: Specializes in the study of the vital functions of various systems in animals, with a focus on comparative and environmental physiology.
The department currently has 415 students distributed across three levels: third year Bachelor’s: 146, first year: 141, and second year: 128 Master’s. The department provides a comprehensive academic education that encompasses theoretical and practical aspects, with opportunities to participate in advanced research projects.
