“Uses of Artificial Intelligence in Scientific Research and Publication Mechanisms in International Journals

“Uses of Artificial Intelligence in Scientific Research and Publication Mechanisms in International Journals” was the title of the doctoral workshop hosted by the Faculty of Economics, Commerce and Management on the morning of 26 November 2025 in the Main Lecture Theatre, under the supervision of the Dean and the scientific direction of Dr. Sufian Ben Abbas.
More than one hundred participants—PhD students from various disciplines and faculty members—attended three main sessions:
  1. Opening session: the Dean’s welcome address emphasised the importance of keeping pace with digital transformations in academic research.
  2. First scientific session: a technical presentation by Dr. Ben Abbas on AI tools (Scite, Research Rabbit, Elicit) for literature mapping and identifying high-impact publication opportunities.
  3. Second scientific session: a hands-on paper demonstrating how to prepare a manuscript with AI writing assistants (Grammarly – Quillbot – Zotero) while complying with academic-integrity standards and Q1-Q2 journal requirements.
Participants recommended the creation of a “Digital Research Support Unit” inside the Faculty to provide AI-powered language-editing services and monthly workshops on journal selection and impact-metrics tools (Altmetric – PlumX).
