Algeria contains a very large diversity of plant bioresources (species and varieties), given that it occupies a strategic geographical position in the world and is characterized by a di-versity of reliefs and bioclimatic levels. However, these plant species (cultivated or in for-ests) are subject to damage due to biotic factors (such as insect pests, weeds and phytopath-ogenic microorganisms) or abiotic factors (such as climatic factors). To address these con-straints, the study of the characteristics related to these factors (including the study of the bioecology of pests, the pathogenicity of pathogens, inventory of crop enemies, etc.) and the testing of alternative methods of controlling bioaggressors, can contribute significantly to the protection of plant bioresources. In this context, the main objective of our team is to study the different aspects related to plant protection (inventory of important bioaggressors, their bio-ecology, control, etc.), in particular the dominant crops in the Khenchela region.

Research axes
- Inventory of crop enemies, particularly those of socio-economic importance in the Khenchela region (such as the codling moth, aphids of vegetables and cereals, etc.)
- Contribution to the study of alternative methods of combating bio-aggressors (resistant varieties, botanical pesticides, auxiliaries, etc.);
- Valorization of bioinformatics applications in the field of plant protection (exploitation of this tool in the search for molecules with potential pesticide activity through in silico studies);
- Protection and development of fruit growing in semi-arid areas, knowing that the region has been known in recent years for the expansion of apple growing, and the support of scientific research is essential for the success of this agricultural sector
