On April 8, 2026, Abbes Laghrour University Khenchela hosted the regional qualifying rounds for the Eastern Region Handball Championship (men’s and women’s categories). The event was held under the auspices of the University Rector and organized by the Provincial University Sports League and the Sub-Directorate of Scientific, Cultural, and Sports Activities, in coordination with the Directorate of Youth and Sports and the Provincial Handball League. Five university cities participated: Mila, Constantine, Oum El Bouaghi, Annaba, and Jijel.
The competition took place at the multi-sports hall in Bazza Laroussi, Khenchela, under excellent organization and in a spirited, competitive atmosphere, reinforcing the values of sportsmanship.
The qualifying rounds culminated in the qualification of the Constantine University City team in the men’s category and the Jijel University City team in the women’s category.
