Scientific Awareness Day on Early Detection of Breast Cancer

On October 20, 2026, the Laboratory of Biotechnology, Water, Environment, and Health (Faculty of Natural and Life Sciences), in coordination with the Laboratory of Green Economy and Renewable Energies (Faculty of Economic, Commercial, and Management Sciences), organized the sixth edition of the “Scientific Awareness Day” focused on the early detection of breast cancer and the impact of dietary habits. The event was co-chaired by Dr. Amel Bouakaz and Dr. Hoda Bouzidi, with the participation of the Khenchela branch of the National Organization of Algerian Midwives.
The event served as an opportunity to promote health literacy and raise awareness about the importance of early breast cancer detection. It highlighted the role of dietary habits in disease prevention and health maintenance, employing an approach that combines scientific education with health-related support.
In this context, the program included medical screenings at the university campus clinic for female university staff—an initiative designed to encourage early detection and foster preventive health practices within the university community.
Furthermore, as part of efforts to strengthen partnerships and engage with the socio-economic environment, the day concluded with the signing of four framework and cooperation agreements:
A cooperation agreement between the Laboratory of Biotechnology, Water, Environment, and Health and the Laboratory of Green Economy and Renewable Energies.
A framework agreement between the Faculty of Economic, Commercial, and Management Sciences and the Algerian Water Company (Algérienne des Eaux).
A framework agreement between the Faculty of Economic, Commercial, and Management Sciences and the National Sanitation Enterprise (ONA), Khenchela unit. A cooperation and partnership agreement has been established between the Laboratory of Biotechnology, Water, Environment, and Health and the Khenchela branch of the National Organization of Algerian Midwives.
These agreements are part of the university’s efforts to expand the horizons of scientific and institutional cooperation, leverage the outcomes of scientific research, and strengthen ties between the university and various stakeholders within its socioeconomic environment—all with the aim of fostering sustainable development and public health.
